What is Google Caffeine

Google Caffeine is the new search innovation that was released a few weeks ago. The concept behind Google caffeine started almost 20 years ago, when Google decided that the indexing rate of 4 months for searches was to lengthy. Working extensively on their algorithm, Google was able to speed up the crawl rate on each website page and define immediate parameters that would affect listing in the search engine. Skip ahead to 2010, and Google announced their new improved architecture called “Google Caffeine”.

“Caffeine” focuses on defining fresh content, and(remove) its relativity and importance within the search directory framework. For example, if someone posts a blog which meets the strict content requirements at the time of publish, Google will immediately publish the article. This however is not clearly defined as yet, with Google head Matt Cutts, highlighting that Google’s algorithm is always changing.

The new approach to indexing is however changing the landscape of search and putting increasing pressure on competitors, Bing and Yahoo. Recently Bing has grown its market share quite significantly. The announcement that Google’s algorithm had changed slightly to accommodate for a more efficient crawler and indexing process would certainly put a dent in the plans of its competitors. An interesting new addition to Google Caffeine is the choice of fresh content and blog focus. In effect, Google’s search engine sees certain content changes and blog types as extremely important. Although most developers and SEO consultants are still left relatively in the dark on what are best SEO practices, and whether Google Caffeine had any significant changes, Matt Cutts confirms highlights that traditional SEO is here to stay.
